As a student while doing your degree course, you often heard this from your seniors, teachers and even from some IT course centers consultants.
Bachelor/Master Degree is not only enough to jump into I.T Sector.
You NEED to have I.T Certification to value yourself to BIG Companies.
Working in IT sector is really fun and one of good way to make a decent income while enjoying your career unless you know yourself and happy about it.
When we want to hear about I.T Certification all of our circle trends answers are,
- CCNA – Cisco
- MCSE – Microsoft
- Database – Oracle
- Python, .NET, C#,PHP, Java – Web Development
- Machine Learning, AI, BlockChain, Pizza, KFC, McDonald’s and all Junk
My friend don’t let yourself get spoiled by fake teachers, fake subject and fake certifications. Reason why am telling this, I got rock bottom after my studies from college like you nothing know where to start my IT career and not knowing where am good at to apply for a job.
Again, There is a huge gap between our academic studies and real world requirement.
I believe in Certification, But not in Certified people.
Let me broke it down, In my previous company there was a vacant available for IT support role on our department, we interviewed one of the candidate. Where he holds Microsoft Certification and we gave him a dummy MS Server and asked him to create user account on that server, we were amazed because he couldn’t able to create and its makes us to think how he got Microsoft certification.
We know there are lot of dumps out there, you just need to study for few days and get passed and it has a consequence, Never ever fake skills lift you up.
I doesn’t have even CCNA certification, But I had implemented large number of network infrastructure and solution in various countries.
I speak reality not the other-way around and the best time to start doing certification is while doing your first job in I.T sector.
Certification can’t help you get a job, but it does help you to grow your I.T career.
Once you join in I.T like IT Help-desk Support or IT Application support and try to find out where you good at and where is your interest flows and more importantly look for the opportunity within a department to get promoted at this point certifications will be value added to you.
If you want to be Sys Admin ask who is already working in System Administration profile.
If you want to be Network Engineer ask who is already working in Networking profile.
If you want to a DB Admin, Web Developer or even ML, AI or Block-chain expert. YOU NEED TO ASK THEM.
Real Problem is we seek advice’s from academic perspective people, Who never installed server, never configured network and security, never developed web apps and never seen any Data Centers in his life time.
3-5 Years Degree doesn’t make you IT Iron-man, You need to make yourself.
